Larry Korman, President, AKA Serviced Residences

A little bit about Larry…

Larry Korman is President of AKA and co–CEO of Korman Communities Inc., a fourth–generation residential real estate company established in 1909, consisting of 20 locations, and 10,000 residences, across two brands: aka and ave.

After graduating from Duke University in 1986, Korman joined the family business full time, leading the creation of Korman Suites, the pioneering furnished apartment concept developed by his father, Steven, in 1966.

Korman Communities, with Larry and his brother Brad as co-CEO’s, continued to evolve the offering, expanding throughout the East coast. Starting in 2004, recognizing an unmet need in major urban cities for luxury extended-stay residences with hotel services, Korman created a new brand, AKA Hotel Residences, with the acquisition, renovation, and re-positioning of eleven high rise properties, including five in midtown Manhattan. With properties in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Beverly Hills and London, the BBC recently recognized AKA “as the most luxurious extended stay brand in the world”.

The company-wide ethos of dedication to the resident experience flows directly from the Korman tradition of pride and commitment to long-term excellence. Larry oversees the design and operations of the three brands, and champions the basics of the operations as the foundation for delivering an unparalleled residential experience.

Born and raised in Fort Washington, PA, Larry is married with three children and lives in a Louis Kahn-designed home that was the architect’s last residential commission. Larry is a member of Penn Design's Board of Overseers, and serves as a board member of Drexel University’s School of Hospitality.
