Jagruti Panwala is the first female Vice Chairwoman of AAHOA, a renowned position and monumental accomplishment. The fact that she reached this position in 2018, however, serves as testament to the sexism still abundant in hospitality - wage gap is no myth, and prevalent in just about every industry. The boutique industry finds its foundation in the impactful natures of passion and and progression - concepts embodied by Jacqueline Villamil and Kerry Rodgers. Digging deeper into the reality of hospitality values, it was discovered that 33% of contractors value their free time as the leading benefit to their work above compensation; and 31% valued the opportunity to travel. In response, SSP partnered with Give A Day Global, a San Francisco-based non-profit that connects travelers with single-day volunteer missions to create the industry-first "Giving Time" initiative. Jacqueline Villamil, COO of SSP, and Kerry Rodgers, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Give a Day Global and former Social Impact consultant at Airbnb, will share their perspective on how volunteering even just one day can impact positively the community, and support the work-life balance workers desire.
